re-establishment of the University on the prewar basis and

asking for an approximate estimate of Chinese contributions

for this purpose.

Dr. Sloss is also a member of our Inter-University Education

Council and has prepared a memorandum setting out the financial

proposals for re-establishing the University on the 1942 scale;

this has been put before the Council and it is hoped that a

£6,500,000 grant may be made from the C.D. & W. Allocation of six and a half

million pounds for higher education in the Colonies.
